Kulp Detail
I have worked with galleries, architects, interior designers, and private individuals. I work closely with clients to be sure they get the piece of art that works the designated space.
At one time tapestries were among the most highly prized of art mediums. Raphael was paid about five times more for the tapestries he designed to enhance the walls of the Sistine Chapel than Michelangelo was for his fresco ceilings.
Tapestries were in the sphere of kings and nobles. They extolled military victories, told moral stories, and portrayed worldly domains in awe inspiring scenes woven with silk, wool, gold, and silver threads. They decorated the walls of castles and palaces, warming the rooms, absorbing sound, and dividing vast spaces. When one court visited another, tapestries were easily transported and reinstalled to display wealth and prestige.
Each piece varies is detail and the amount of time involved in the weaving and finishing. Many smaller works will have just as many or more hours of weaving time than larger ones.
I always meet my deadlines. I am prepared to work with you to design something to your specifications and budget. I start with sketches and sample weaves following your instructions, and will not begin a project until you are satisfied with the design.
